Here is Kathmandu's open secret: there is always something happening, and nobody can ever find it. The gig is announced on a Facebook story that vanishes in a day. The heritage walk spreads by word of mouth through three group chats. The film screening lives on a poster outside a café in Jhamsikhel you happened not to pass. Our events board exists to fix exactly that — every listing has a date, a venue, a map pin, and an organizer you can follow, all scam-screened by a human before it goes up.
What actually runs most weeks
Live music is the Valley's heartbeat: rock and 1974-AD-style Nepali rock in Thamel, jazz in Lazimpat courtyards, lok dohori nights where the whole room sings the chorus. Heritage and food walks leave most Saturday mornings — the Asan–Indra Chowk maze at dawn, Patan's courtyard circuit, Bhaktapur's yomari trail — and they are the cheapest education in the city. Runs, rides and hikes fill Sundays: valley-rim hikes from Sundarijal to Chisapani, critical-mass bike rides, trail races up Nagarjun and Champadevi. Markets rotate through Le Sherpa, Bhatbhateni courtyards and Patan — farm produce, books, vinyl, ceramics. And from September to November, festival season swallows everything: Indra Jatra's chariot pulls through old Kathmandu, Dashain fairs, Tihar's lamp-lit nights, Chhath crowds at Kamalpokhari.

Running something yourself?
If you host gigs, workshops, cleanups, blood drives or treks — get an approved organizer profile and post free. Listings with a clear venue, a real start time and one good photo get multiples of the signups of vague ones; that pattern holds across hundreds of events now. Blood donations and disaster-relief drives get priority placement during alert periods, coordinated with our disaster watch.
Pair it with a day trip
The classic Kathmandu weekend is one city day, one ridge day. Saturday's concert plus Sunday at Kakani for sunrise, Namo Buddha for the monastery circuit, or Shivapuri for a proper leg-burner — all reachable before lunch if you leave early. For anything above 2,500m, glance at trekking weather first; the Valley lies about its skies constantly. Pokhara runs its own parallel calendar — lakeside gigs, paragliding gatherings, street food fests — so check the board's filters if you are out west.
One safety note
We never process payments for events and neither should a stranger in your DMs. Confirm any fee directly with the organizer, and treat upfront-fee demands from unknown accounts as scams until proven otherwise. When in doubt, message the organizer through their profile on the board — real organizers answer, scammers disappear.
